With no experience of KDE I was just playing with desktop theme in settings. Setting a new theme and clicking the layout change box lost me the nice bar at the top, and instead I have a less functional and poorly laid out bar at the bottom. Switching back to the breeze dark theme with or without checking the layout change box doesn't seem to help. How do I reset things to the way they were without reinstalling?
I can move the bottom panel to the top but I've lost the neat top-bar application menus and the wingpanelish launcher ...

Well it seems like you accidentally played around some configuration files which were not meant to be modified. You could have changed the theme without breaking the BackSlash Shell. But you can still get back the shell. Make a USB out of the BackSlash Linux ISO you downloaded. Then boot with the USB drive. Now you have two different partitions - One your hard drive on which BackSlash is installed, second the USB drive on which your ISO is mounted. Migrate to the home folder of the USB drive and show hidden files by pressing {Alt+.(dot)} or by selecting required option from the menu bar. Copy all the files and folders that are hidden. Hidden files/folders are slightly faded and their names start with a "." (e.g. ".config, .bashrc"). Do not modify any configuration files, just copy all the folders and files. Now migrate to the home directory of your hard drive and delete all hidden files and folders. Keep some backup if there is some important stuff. Paste the previously copied files and reboot to your installed copy of BackSlash. This will reset the Shell to Factory Settings. Note: This process will delete your all custom settings and appdata and reset the BackSlash Shell. However, you will not lose your apps will and other documents/files. PS: We have taken this issue as a bug and you can track the bug report here.
